User Help How to view the Ads - There are several ways to view an Ad. First there is the Main Category listing inside of which are many sub-categories. For example, if you go to the Home page, click the 'Classifieds Home' button on the main blue menu bar, you will be taken to the main categories. Here you will see the main categories with pictures and a short explanation of them. Click one of these main categories to see all the sub-categories within and choose which category of Ad you are interested in. When you have chosen the category you are interested in, scroll down the page and you will be able to view a summary of the Ads in this particular section. To view the details of a particular Ad, just click on the Title and you will be taken to the Ad itself to view in full. Another way of viewing the ads is to look at the 'scrolling widget', situated a third of the way down each page, these are the spotlighted/featured Ads. You can click the Title on any one of these and you will be able to view the full details of a particular Ad. You can also click the 'Recent Ads' button on the main blue menu bar to see the most recent Ads. Lastly, you can click the RSS Feed top right (above the blue menu bar), it is the orange symbol with the words 'Latest 20 Ads' next to it. Just click the symbol or the text to be taken to the RSS Feed, once there just click on the Title of the Ad you are interested to see the full details. You can also subscribe to the RSS feed if you want to be kept informed of the most recent Ads. How To Register - Click on the Register link in the dark blue tab on the top menu bar. You will be prompted to create a user name and supply an email address. Once you have completed the registration process, you will receive an email with your initial password. You can change your password once you have logged-in. If you do not see your initial password email, please check your spam or junk folder. People will see your user name, your email address will be hidden. You need to register if you want to post an Ad or to reply to an Ad. How To Login - Click on the Login link in the dark blue menu bar. Enter the user name you used to register and the initial password that was emailed to the email account you provided when you registered. If you do not see your initial password email, please check your spam or junk folder. Once you are logged in you can change your password by clicking on the My profile link on the sub menu (the sub menu will appear under the blue menu bar once you are logged in). To Reply to an Ad - Open the details by clicking on the Title of the Ad then click on the Reply to this posting link. You will have an opportunity to add a personal message to your email. You will need to register and open an account before you can reply to any Ad. How To Post an Ad - As a security and anti-spam measure, we are requiring that people register before submitting an Ad. After you have registered and logged in, click on the "Post an Ad" button the red button on the dark blue menu tabs, select an Ad category and/or sub-category and fill in the form (please note some fields are required). Is it really FREE to post an Ad? - Yes, placing an Ad on WestHighlandClassifieds.com is free for general users in most categories. Each newly registered user is able to post an Ad in any category with a single picture for FREE. Your Ad will be live for up to 30 days (in most categories) with limited text and up to 1 picture, unless you decide to delete it earlier. If you want extra features such as the ablility to 'Feature' or 'Spotlight' your Ad, both of which enable your Ad to be seen by far more people, then there is a small charge for these extra options. Similarly, extra photos (beyond the first) are extra options for which again, there is a small charge. There is a small Ad submission fee for Business Services, Cars for Sale, Caravans & Campervans for Sale, Motorbikes & ATV's for Sale, and Jobs Offered. Your Ad can stay live until it sells! - You can renew or prolong your Ad until it sells. You are allowed to do this up to 5 times during the lifetime of your Ad, which effectively gives you up to 150 days in which to sell. The only exceptions to this are the following categories: Business Services, Cars for Sale, Caravans & Campervans for Sale, Motorbikes & ATV's for Sale, and Jobs Offered. In these particular categories the Ads are live for much longer than 30 days by default. Picture/Photo Uploading - For obvious reasons there is a limit to both the file size and dimensions of photos. To help, please follow these guidelines. Your photos should be no larger than 350 Kilobytes in file size and the dimensions should be no larger than 500 pixels wide X 500 pixels high. If you at least keep to 500 high or wide, the program will downsize the other dimension accordingly. How will people contact me about my Ad? - You provided us with your email address when you registered for your account. We use that email address to create a "Reply to Posting" form that potential buyers can use to contact you. That way, you do not have to put your email address or phone number on the web for anyone to see. How can I get more responses to my Ad? - To increase the chance of getting a good response, follow these simple tips:

You can either 'Prolong' your Ad or 'Modify' to suit. The current limit however is 30 days. When will my Ad Expire? - Your Ad will be live on our website for 30 days and will then expire automatically, unless you prolong it, or you close (delete) it beforehand. How To Forward Ad Details to a Friend - Open the Ad details by clicking on the Title of the Ad and then click on the Email this to a friend link. You will have an opportunity to add a personal message to your email. How To Change Your Password - Once you are logged in you can change your password by clicking on the My profile link on the sub menu (the sub menu will appear immediately under the dark blue logged in menu bar) once you are logged in. Do I have to include the Location when placing my Ad? - Yes, this is to make sure that potential buyers on our website can search for Ads in their location. How do I Edit or Delete my Ad? - Login into your account. You can manage your Ads through the "My Ads" tab in the light blue tab menu. You'll see a list of all of your Ads. You can 'Modify' or 'Delete' any Ad by clicking on the links that appear beside the title of your Ad. Please note: You cannot edit the category or location of your Ad. If you need to change the category or location, please delete your Ad and create a new one. If you wish to change the status of an Ad you have already posted to a 'Featured Ad' or a 'Spotlighted Ad', first find it on our system, click 'Modify' and tick the appropriate box, don't forget to save it. Once you have saved it, the system will take you to Paypal to complete the payment process. What happens when my Item has Sold? - If your item has been sold, please remove your Ad from the site by deleting it (see "How do I Edit or Delete my Ad").
